Lonely Planet website organized a survey to find out the opinions of its readers on a number of places in Europe which are visited by millions of tourists every year. The question was: Is it worth visiting?. In the list there are popular places that anyone knows:
On the positive side, most of those who voted considered that places like the Acropolis, the Colosseum and the Eiffel Tower are on the list of places which worth visiting. On the downside, The London Eye (the huge wheel that appears in many London travel brochures) and the Blarney Stone in Ireland are among those which got more votes against than in favor. The gondolas of Venice, meanwhile, remained at 50%. Half of the voters see them as something to include in your route, while the other half considered best avoided.
